Artwork of the Week: Totem Lights

Totem Lights by Jamie Julien-Brown

I've been unofficially on the lookout for a new living room light source ever since Graham tackled our single floor lamp to the ground and ripped it's shade off. It currently stands quivering in the corner, it's torn white screen propped precariously on the wire frame, ready to hula hoop down the post at the slightest provocation.

While a new floor lamp is probably not in our future anytime soon (I think a pendant of some sort might be ), it would be incredible to own one of these Totem Lights by artist and designer Jamie Julien-Brown. They are all one-of-a-kind creations, made from multi-colored, variously textured glass lampshades strung on an internal light source and mounted on a white ceramic tile base. On or off, they are a bright, playful synthesis of form and function. The works are sold exclusively through a London shop called Darkroom for around 2700 GBP.

Jamie Julien-Brown also does some really neat illustrations as well as murals, and other 3-D work. You can see more from the artist on his website: jamiejulienbrown.com
