taking a class about the National Gallery of Art's recent acquisition of
the Kaufman
Collection, a collection of American-made furniture from 1700-1830.
Which has me thinking about the state of American furniture making.
The Kaufman Collection One company, Stephen Plaud, works hard to make quality hardwood furniture that is made in America. Here's a sampling of some of their work: |

Gorgeous bed!
What a Renaissance of American furniture making! I just love these beds and the spirit they bring!
Something to note, when one thinks of the colors of Colonial America we tend to think of muddy reds, greens, and yellows, but new research shows that these colors were actually bright and brilliant and not muddy at all. Time to rethink all of the historical collection paint fans we might have.
